A day that many thought would never come to be. Sonic is comming to Nintendo!!!
I never imagined it would come to this but it has. Now don't get me wrong I am not saying Nintendo or the Gamecube is a bad system. I like the hardware and Nintendo is a company that is capable of delivering. What I am saying is that Sonic is a great icon of SEGA. Every time you hear the word Sonic you instantly think of Sega (If not you know what company makes him once asked) Ever since the early 90's Sonic was an icon like Mario is for Nintendo. The great rivalries were always between Sonic and Mario and everyone would love that and argue who is better. Now that Sonic is comming to Nintendo that just throws all of the past out the window. I see why Sega has pushed it here though. The Gamecube is a console aimed more for younger audience and even though Sonic is far from a childish game it will best sell on this system. (asside from Sega consoles) I personaly don't like this idea but hey if it makes the game even more popular and it reaches new audience allowing them to experience this great line of games then sure. I can't argue with that.

However there is also good news to this DC port. If Sonic is to come to another system now is the time. Sonic has never before looked faster and as action packed as now. What I do like is that Sonic Team is actually looking into this port over. Some companies would simply flop the DC version over and ramble how much nicer it plays on the new console. Not Sonic Team. They spiced up this game really nice on what was an excellent game to begin with. They also gave it a new name. Well sort of but you have to give them credit because it does make sense.

As you might know the original SA2 on DC relied heavily on the one player mode. This is where most of the game was at. For the Gamecube though they had to do something different and they did. They expended the 2 player mode and thus fullfilling the games name Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Yep the game will feature all the goodies from the original plus way more 2 player battles. Based on the looks I got from the screens it seems that you now will be able to play all the one player levels with a multiplayer option. This means that now not only will you have to try and beat the levels requirements but your oponent too. It all adds to the suspense. The great part is that they added 6 new characters to the 2 player mode. You will be able to play with the 6 characters from the 1 Player mode plus the new additions of Amy, Metal Sonic, Chaos Zero (Don't ask why they call him Zero now? In Sonic Adventure Zero was another character that chased Amy around???) Tikal, Dark and Hero Chao. The mode will feature an action section which will include Sonic racing Shadow, Amy and Metal Sonic. The treasure hunting will have Knuckles, Rouge, Chaos, and Tikal all battle to become the ultimate treasure hunters. The mad shooting will include Tails, Eggman (aka Robotnik) Dark and Hero Chao all blasting their way to victory. And finaly a totaly new addition the Chao karate. Sounds cool but time will tell if it will do the job.

If all goes well this game will improve on it's already solid structure and gameplay. The only thing I ask is that they include an OPENING VIDEO. The DC version didn't and my only explanation is that they ran out of GD space. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is set to come out on February 12, 2002 and is rated E for everyone. If you own a GC pick it up. You won't regret the action.
